REP Arundel Lezyne Triathlon 2016 now live and new races

Big blue skies in the shadow of the castle at the start of the REP Arundel Tri at 6am

The latest Gallery - The REP Arundel Lezine Triathlon 2016 - with free downloads (Which were ready fully catalogued on Sunday evening) is here

The joy of getting back on it. The running thing I mean.
Well, I hope you all enjoyed the first few days of Summer ! If you have found it, let me know. As I battled into a cold northerly wind between showers this morning I thought it felt a lot more like early April at 12degC not June. Having said that my running was more appropriate for April (slow and undertrained), so nothing new. Join us over on our SSP Strava group if you want to see my suffering and fancy a laugh at what "run, walk, ok run a bit more" looks like...
Phil Young was last weeks distance leader in the SSP group with almost 70miles, which frankly I find ridiculous, but well done all the same, and I hope the hip TFL injury feels better soon.

I'm using my fitbit ChargeHR linked to my Fitbit phone app to map most of my runs, and then those go automatically to strava, however I'll be honest, the HR wrist reading is not as reliable as the chest strap on my old garmin forerunner 305 (although this is the current equivalent and uses wrist measurement with lots of lights). That also auto-uploads to strava via garmin connect when I put it on charge on my computer which is easy. I just have to make sure I don't do both, which has been done...

In other news, my new running shorts have a pocket in the middle of the back, where I put my phone - and it is significantly more comfortable than any arm band or back pocket on my running top. Sam at the Jog Shop saw me good for those, definitely one of those places you need to visit to get what fits you best.
All Ok with 2 laps to go and a bonk on the head from a float

Last Call for entries
Today is the last chance for entries to the Hurt, whilst over 250 clicks through to the Hurt, only 3 of you have actually used the discount code SSP10. Entries close at midnight tonight - Thursday.

Exciting New event for the calendar
We are going to be working with the lovely Pic2Go technology at the Shrewsbury Half Marathon on the 19th of June. So that means - live photos going directly to competitors facebook timelines during the race. If that's not an exciting way to share your running achievements then I don't know what is!

We have also been asked to cover the Hampshire Hoppit - a new race which is very similar to the famous Three Forts in terms of terrain and elevation - its just that it is on the North Downs. If you like your trail half and full marathons - check this out  - and there are only 12 places left at the time of writing...

I would do more shots head-on like this but I get stepped on, in the way, and wet, and I can't do it from the other end as it's only a foot wide. Shame really. At least you can see why we like hand numbering !

Charity shout out
Nuala is now on her marathon 99, and raising money like a good'un - if you're the supportive type - read more about it here - - I think the Worthing Air Cadets are a worthy cause to be aiming for 100 marathons, especially as they were burgled. Help make them a bit happier, it will give you a warm fuzzy feeling.

Discount Corner - don't miss out and remember to use the codes to encourage event organisers to give them out to us again - if you don't use the codes, they don't know we told you about the event...and then they don't give us more discount codes for you to use... see what I mean ?

REP Arundel Lezyne Triathlon 2016
There's not a lot more I can add to this report that seems to cover all the angles - but do pay attention for the average cycling speed of the winner and the small margin of victory for second place over third -

Triathlon is one of those sports that until all the facts are gathered together once everyone has finished you can only then see what has gone on and where the gains were made. If you're a bit of a geek and like pouring over spreadsheets that's great - you just need to find the time !

Always busy with a bit of a crowd once it's past silly o'clock
Expectant parents and family line the poolside
It's ok to have a breather if you need on
Some people can look cool swimming !

Not the time to be playing at Jaws

Full speed downhill in the early bike laps
Keeping it aero even without the bars
I wonder what it was that makes him go so fast to win ?
Mick was given a special pass as he forgot his bike
Can you get more Aero than this though ?
Handy silver van for reflecting back the light into the shadows
Looking very bouncy on the toes - excellent work by Lucinda
Always finish with a smile ! The pain is over :-)
He politely declined their request of "again again another lap daddy"
As they get older you just want to hit them, I mean High-five them.
Nobody gets past course record holder and guardian of the prizes Nikki - unless you won something.

Right, that's it for today, enjoy the Friday, see you Hurting at the hurt, and doing it at the Dorking 10...
or join me on the strava group...
until next time
