The Newbury Triathlon is now live on the gallery here: http://gallery.sussexsportphotography.com/a.tlx?k=og8zesb
This is the first time we've been to the Newbury Triathlon. Invited over by Scott it seemed a great event for new-comers to the sport, if for no other reason than to see a 75m outside pool we were interested in being able to play our part. Is it the longest pool in the country ? Judging from the faces going into T1 it certainly seemed like it to some of you.
Thankfully baywatch were on hand and everyone who go into the pool made it out:
The good thing about an outdoor pool is everyone can get alongside and cheer and support, even those from abroad.
Various techniques were on display with a few fast crawlers cutting along at a fair lick:
Some even had time to wave hello to the crowds...
If you don't have a helmet number on the front - well then we sometimes get the chance to check for numbers on the back: I can see this one with an article in 220 tri.
Grrr give me cake. Battenburg preferrably...
It wasn't that bad a hill, honest.
All was fine on the bike course, we even had a man who likes to collect bikes with his specially adapded "collection-door" van. Somehow I don't think the race organiser would have been pleased to see his son being taken by the bike collector (nor anyone else for that matter!)
There was as you know a slight squiff in the results due to start times going for a burton - but here is the evidence that they were there fixing it live as you were finishing (no small challenge with a live results database!), except for those moments when he got asked "are these right?" - "not quite yet!" being the oft repeated response!
261 demonstrated the correct finishing effort
379 demonstrated the correct finishing Technique - great run and a great finish !
So it's your turn to go get your pictures from the gallery - a great event for first timers and repeat offenders - remember they will only be online for 3 months so I'd stongly suggest getting your orders in now.
The event gallery is live here:
