REP Arundel Tri, Kellys Cycle, London Richmond 10 Mile, Ride London Revolution 2018 - all free and online

by the end of the day, the fog had lifted and we could see the castle !

It's nice to be able to say that all the work from this weekend is online and ready for FREE DOWNLOADS...
I also didn't mention last weekends free coverage events in last weeks blog, because the event organisers were doing such a good job of telling everyone - it really didn't seem they were going out live anyway... what more could we do !

As we continue our mission to make people happy with sport photography, we're shifting the cost and time for getting photos to participants to be free and fast. This helps everyone who simply doesn't have a photographic memory, because now you can get your photographic memories free from our gallery ! - or powered by the Pic2Go system - which means you got them direct to your facebook profile whilst the event was still going on - sharing those moments before they even become memories - how cool is that !

So have a look down the list here for events to enter, you'll see that free downloads are becoming the "standard" amongst events and that you should now expect to see it as standard on your race entry (and not just a few shots by a hobbyist - proper professional whole route coverage):

We all continue to get more and more GDPR subscription requests which we are all ignoring or deleting. These requests mean one of several things - either they broke the current data protection act to put you on their mailing list without any sort of permission, they don't have enough data control of their current data to know where they got your email or permission from, or if they have the right answer to the first two - then they don't understand the GDPR regulations (because if they did - then they wouldn't need to ask you to re-register your interest...).

So without further ado - I won't be sending any please re-subscribe emails - because all of you receiving this did a two step verification signup process - which is the "new" gold standard everyone is trying to jump up to. I have the awesome feedburner to thank for that (even though google bought it out). If you're in the business of trying to have a GDPR standard email newsletter sign up process - which doesn't cost you anything (unlike mailchimp) - then give a look see.

In the meantime - if you want no more of my refined and deeply cultured image captioning wit, please unsubscribe at the bottom of this when you get it as an email, freedom is but a click away, and in the words of the great Brian Blessed at a local farmers function "I shouldn't have been booked for this and you're all ..... anyway" (you can fill in the gap, nice people...). So moving on, here's some photos up next...

Mind the paint splats at the start of the Dulux Trade London Revolution Ride - 2 days of fully supported sportiving - what more do you want ?

Support crew give the thumbs up at Marlow bridge, narrowly avoiding the Marlow 5 running race (which we used to take photos at)

Using your communicator to talk to the enterprise at the end of a mission

Marlow bridge, even better when it's closed just for you (ok it was closed for the Marlow 5m but they nicely let the cyclists through)

very big hill shot. Every ride should have one, so we can get the pain.

Little did he know what was behind him, and the crowd wasn't waving at him, but never mind - he had a good time anyway

wrong finish line, but take it all the same !

Here's a new and very organised run in Richmond - incredible level of event organisation

fancy a nice medal ?

Paul of parkrun, who were beneficial partners with the run. He has his own T'Shirt !

I don't think he's proposing to her ? Looks serious though.

Fulham, probably full of football happiness

No that's not snow, but similar technical photo set up required

There was a good team of pacers to try to keep up with/chase down

relief at the finish !

some people had more of a chat than others on the way around

Strong men - Fresh from the circus ?

Richmond Park is quite a nice place for a run

Goldie was enjoying the attention and affection

Medals and memories - because that's what it's all about !

Channelling Giro d'Italia descending

All going ok !

It's just a nice day out on the bike.

2 more big hills to go

Double hattage, all good.

Precision timing at the start because it all goes down to the millisecond.

Steaming pool on a foggy day, made actually seeing the swimmers a bit tricky !

Sometimes we couldn't see the other end of the pool

Miki - lane lap counting as she does ever year when she's not competing. If you need a pilates class or a sports massage - then go to  She can talk chemistry too, as you can tell from the photo, but don't ask for a judo demo #justsayin.

It got to that point with the fog that we probably needed two lifeguards because we couldn't see the other end of the pool

Someone left their mascot behind

always fun getting the close-up outside pool swim shots

he was actually standing up and someone threw some water at him

That moment when you forget where your bike was left in transition

all going well, survived the fog up the hill

Cycling - it's all about the legs

looking strong into the finish

looking strong into the finish

Top high fiving into the finish

Crazy proud to have finished !

lining up those high fives

I try to tell people - leave the watch thing until afterwards - it slows you down, you get overtaken

awesome high fives

Still going strong REP team - thank you for the day ! (search for "misc" on the ones from 11 years ago to see how things change!)

Proud Dad moment as daughter does top photobomb after working hard on the swim exit photos. She's been taking photos at REP events since she was 4... - adding some added extra coverage to these great events.

Finally - Spare a moment for Gwyn the doggie. Little did she know her owner was going to jump quite so high. Fortunately on a full body harness, not a collar...

So that's it for this weeks roundup of the race news, enjoy the weather - I had a fantastic 1hr run yesterday afternoon, and you can join our SSP Strava group here if you're into that sort of thing it would be good to see you there !

Until next time (I have a weekend off - can you believe it !!!) enjoy the bank holiday !

Two big races that we covered at the weekend are now live for searching and ordering on the gallery. Please see the list below in the table for your gallery link !

If you took part in the two day Dulux Trade London Revolution Ride - then the live images that were shared and available during the event - powered by pic2go technology - can still be registered for and downloaded by registering here:
Well done everyone in what was a challenging first days ride in the rain, you all seemed to recover from that 100miles for the 85 on Sunday quite well - not forgetting the ultra's who did the whole 185 on one day...

After last weeks post and with the flurry of emails and heightened interest in GDPR relating to event photography (zero questions or replies), I'm pleased to announce that I'll shortly be publishing a book. It's got a working title of "Nobody Cares (but it's sort of important)". Apologies for wasting the 30seconds last week it took for you to scroll past my wise words of experience, which are mostly irrelevant if the team action here is anything as proof...

Free downloads continue
Whilst we were out covering quite a lot of racing, it was noted we were not at the East Grinstead Tri, or the Marlow 5 race this year, which after 12 years of covering the EGTri and collecting a very nice wardrobe of various different race tops, was a bit of a shame (but honestly - five races in a weekend is tough enough). The simple reason us this: runners want their photos for free - included in the event price - you just have to look at the number of events that we have listed above which now include the images either live powered by Pic2Go or as free downloads after the event. It makes sense for the race, the sponsors and the publicity of the event - just as much as free Tshirts, medals and goody bags makes sense in the "Old media" advertising and promotion of the event - digital photos which people share online (for a very long time, unlike their medals) are equally important to a race organiser trying to raise charity funds or increase awareness for next years race entry - more people see a race photo than a race medal or you wearing your race T-Shirt - all packed into an increasingly crowded race calendar. We look forwards to increasingly move even more races over to the free downloads over the coming months and continuing to make people happy through the medium of sport photography !

In the meantime - as a quick heads up if you want us to do a PR job for four hours plus post processing and commercial license for £120, then you'll be wrong.

Some race highlights for you from Run Gatwick and the Oxford 10k Town and Gown.
In no particular order.

It's not the bridge of sighs, the course isn't that long.

This is not quidditch, and is not a dementor. Merton College taking it to the max.

Craig weighs up the situation ready to get "the shot"

fast running into the finish

Top fancy dress top hat wearing

excellent work by "Gown" to win the Town and Gown 2018

Flying into the finish

I don't recall Kevin Bacon mentioning his running in those EE adverts

Hard work - very good effort indeed !

Honestly - we didn't photo stage the 5k winner in a BA running vest...

He didn't tell anyone he was on a training run, but he still delivered at the end

flying in at the finish

Happy with the pacing job - bang on the 1:50 mark

Emma was pleased to reach the finish !

He got it wrong when he did it to his right middle finger previously...

Top teamwork with friends !

Top running in the Family Fun Run

Colin shared his love of martial arts

With the Eurovision finals on TV the night before, an excellent performance on the day

Sounding the charge of the light brigade, suddenly she realised she'd brought the wrong Bugle.

Easier said than done !!

Good to have a bit of cheerleading on the course. I'd quite like this when I get on a flight too.

Super runner - only done a few hundred marathons...

Iwan smashed out a fast 5k, he was a bit race nervous - good to see him on form - he's a big fan of parkrun

Fully focussed into the last turn

Cara - suffering for her sport, good to see my friends out and about

winner of the best running leggings of the day

Michelle - double thumbs up

That moment we all suffer at some point in a race - when it hits us like a confused geography teacher.

I so want to know what she's looking at on her phone...

Well done Ali !!

Full kit

Smashing it out

Adult running clothing is so boring by comparison

The London 10 gallery will be available shortly, and then the high resolution gallery for all the London Revolution Ride will be processed next - it's been a very very busy few days for us here.

Until next time, enjoy the sunshine and well done everyone on your achievements at the weekend - top work !
