REP Arun Swim and The Oxford Town and Gown 10k 2021 - Free Race Photos

All go at the REP Arun Swim 2021

A busy weekend of two events as things continue to open up slowly in a "specific and limited way" - with as many Covid Secure event logistics and plans as can be done to keep everyone as safe as possible - mostly from each other.

First up the REP Arun Swim - with free downloads direct from the gallery

and then the

Muscular Dystrophy Town and Gown Oxford 10k - with live free photos on the day using pic2go technology for everyone to share immediately !
and there's the backup gallery here:

Here's a list of all the events so far this year with their free download galleries, and future events. If your next event isn't listed on it - then they need to sort themselves (or if you're a race director - yourself!) out !

If some of you are wondering what the big deal is about free photos - especially the metrics for sponsorship in terms of using them for brand awareness - we measured over half a million sponsor branded image views for an event with 2000 participants within 24 hours. Weather your sponsor is a charity or a commercial entity, or you're just trying to promote your future events - without a doubt  more than 700,000 views of your brand or logo due to an event is going to make a difference to your business ! (just make sure you have a photo service that can genuinely measure it!). Get in touch if you think it would help your event...

And now for some pictures, sorry mostly swim ones this week... congratulations to Mick and the REP crew for running such a fantastic event yet again !

childcare is difficult during covid

Queen and Princess for the win !

so that was a fantastic day out in oxford, and we missed the torrential rain, by about 10 minutes. The start on waves from 9am to 10:10 meant that the course never got jam packed and was a relatively gentle affair in town - perhaps to the point that some of the cyclists didn't really understand what a closed road meant because there was nothing to really see. The waves did however mean that we got a lot more photos of everyone else because - people were more spread out - and that's a win for us as well as the runners.

If you're interested - it was 10 people starting off every five seconds - there was ten dots on the road as starting points, and a starting countdown clock and traffic light for each group. ten people would come forwards out of the five queues onto the dots during the red light, and then go on green.

The waves were grouped up every ten minutes to be brought to the start area - keeping people back in the park until their wave was time to go.

Heart rate tech.
because you know I love a bit of tech, and well, have a bit of a cardiology thing going on.
This thing works as a normal HR strap with my Polar watch and as it's bluetooth will work with almost any other modern one. Some will even let it display the ecg live on your watch...if you don't want to watch it on your smartphone app.
I've now got a HR strap that does a two point ECG and QTc measurements as well as breathing rate - allowing it to work out real lung and heart effort and overall physical training stress - so you can train smarter (and not over train or under train!).
Here's a little clip of the sort of "nice then nasty" ECG I get whilst asleep multiple times during the night - and this data is good enough quality to go to my consultant with. Any cardiac consultants reading this blog that can see something going on - feel free to get in touch and tell me !

Anyway, Paula Radcliff uses one, so if it's good enough for her to optimise her workouts, why not you too ?

So we now have three weekends of back to back Mighty Hikes, with their wonderful live galleries on the day, helping them to drive massive fund raising for the wonderful work done by Macmillan. Here's hoping that the weather picks up a bit better in the meantime.

And until next time, well done England on that football match,
