For the uninitiated (as I was) these Irish dancing competitions are serious yet friendly events, with some of the most physical and difficult moves I've seen anywhere in sport. Triss and I were warmly welcomed into the fold and worked hard through the day to catch the indoors action.
With the final Championship and Trophy rounds involving a sequential turn in front of the other competitors the pressure is most certainly "on" and I was privileged to see each in turn rise to the occasion, as well as the camaraderie and support shown to each other. With competitors from as far afield as Essex and Kent it was a big event.
Working indoors was technically hard work - for the camera techs - it was ISO1600, 1/400 at F2.8 - i.e. quite tricky . Naturally all orders will have their colour balance, contrast, and brightness adjusted and sorted out (as we do for all orders actually), so don't worry if there is a slight colour cast on the preview images - all will be fixed professionally as ever..
I hope you enjoy the gallery, and hopefully the images help one to appreciate the technical and athletic skills that were demonstrated on the day, and perhaps your dance teachers may be able to use them as a coaching aid.
