Chestnut Tree House Coastal 10k Race - now live

The Chestnut Tree House Coastal 10k Race Gallery is now live and online here:

Race results are here:  Split Second Timing.co.uk

With predicted gale force winds, torrential rain and other nasties forecast on the Friday - it was with all eyes on the sky Sunday morning. Fortunately it all seemed to be coming in a bit later - and indeed it all washed through on Sunday night. The net result was over 800 runners took to the seafront in Littlehampton for the race in dry (but blustery) conditions.

Big congratualations to everyone at the Chestnut Tree House who organised the race, especially Leanne (race director on the day) and Tanya both of whom put everything into the event. If you didn't run, please feel free to give them a donation here http://www.justgiving.com/chestnuttreehouse/donate

Alternatively - if you did run - you can buy your photo and we will share the profits from all the sales with The Chestnut Tree House for you ! Much more fun !

A bit biased with the selection of runners in the blog photos below - might be something to do with their running tops ?

A strong Start from the East Beach Cafe

Waves at one mile on the way out

Chef Geoff finished strongly

Thumbs up on a good race from Arunners Clowsy

Making it onto the well supported finish straight

Flying in on the last 30 yrds

Tenacious C

Still smiling after all that headwind on the way back

Autumn running gloves already - goodbye summer

Too late to order a Taxi, 501 gave a knowing look.

Simon Gill - won in 42:32 on a slightly long course - probably sub40 pace normally.

Teamwork all the way to the finish
For those of you worrying about bad times (and I'm not talking generally about the uk economy) - apart from the gale force headwind on the way back in - apparently an unfortunate volunteer stood at the wrong place for an important turning point - ending in about 6.8 miles on some peoples GPS watches - that's about 800m too far. Feel sorry for the poor volunteer standing 400m off point wondering what was going on.

As a general note - brilliant to see an almost 50/50 split men and women at the race - not something that we see very often.

Right - time to index the ETL Denbies Bacchus photos - not sure where the hired help has got too...hmmm
