A fast start, running away from the Winter Wonderland Happy New Year !! |
OK if you were caught in the storms, floods, rain, wind or burst rivers, probably not that happy, but for a bunch of brave souls who weathered the storms and ran, marshaled and officiated at Hyde Park on New Years Day there seemed to be quite a lot of fun being had !

Crazy Happy New Year |
A YMCA New Year ! |
Well done to the marshals, officials, and everyone from Serpentine who managed to make the event what it was, with 582 finishers in the atrocious weather conditions it was a better turn out than expected and everyone got round safely. Fortunately it wasn't too cold, but there was an incredible amount of rain. To put it in perspective we drove through 2 completely flooded roads on the way back - which had been dry on the way to the race.
This weekend around the country sees a lot of local county cross country championships - Sussex has been reassigned to Bexhill due to travelers on the grounds at Stanmer - so it's going to be a wet and windy race about the paths in the woods tomorrow. Hopefully that storm in the Atlantic will give us a bit of a rest before it sweeps in...
Happy New Year, I hope your training plans are starting to take shape and going to last well through into April at least ! Keep safe in the rain and floods.
Until next time
Anthony
