Unleashing the Hounds at Folkestone |
Spring has sprung. Well sort of , but not quite last Easter Friday at Folkestone as the hazy sea air made for perfect running conditions on the classic flat out and back 10 mile course from Hythe.
Then on the Easter Monday it was the WSFRL Lewes 10k and Fun Runs - hosted by Lewes AC at their track.
It was a fantastic turnout - with the Fun Runs especially being some of the best attended that we ever see - the natural setting at the track makes for a real family and team outing, and the 10k course apart from one slight rise is a lovely run around the old flood plains of the River Ouse to the south of Lewes.
Also the weather held perfectly - and it was the first outing for the Factor 30, fortunately still in the bag from last august...
By the way - did you know the WSFRL (West Sussex Fun Run League) is up for your vote at the Running Awards - vote for them here in the Event Series Category http://therunningawards.com/vote/30/49#vote
Whilst we're at it I'm just going to mention how dead chuffed I am that we cover 6 of the 12 half marathons that you can vote for... see, we don't just work with anyone !!
Just also a quick nod to everyone involved in the Brighton Marathon this weekend - from those manning the stand at the Expo/Registration tent, sorting out the Mini-Mile at Preston Park on Saturday, to those leading the warm up on the stage, massaging the weary legs at the finish, as well as some of you who might be running it, good luck to you all, the weather forecast looks perfect - just don't get too cold first thing in the morning whilst you're standing around waiting at the start, and remember to cool those legs off in the sea afterwards !

Unleash the Rebel in you |
This is the only WSFRL that we cover, and it is notable how the clubs all seem to have their appointed photographers covering their team members. Some interesting camera techniques being weilded by some of them, so it will be interesting to see what they managed to produce with Seaford, Eastbourne, BHR, and Arunners all represented, and given the amount of camera gear about - I'm sure I missed a few of them out there !
Start of the 2mile Fun Run, with the club flags behind |
James lying at the front |
Correct finishy joy jumping |
Off onto the Fun Run 1 mile course |
Never too young for a Fun Run ! Smiles all round |
Marten enjoys his own race ! |
Put some effort in at the finish - nice view of the cliffs |
Neil pushed hard at the end for the extra place |
Jay wears this springs must have headgear, that money cannot buy |
Hedgehopping completed ok |
No honours sharing amongst teamates... |
So, perfect conditions for running on Monday, and hopefully it will be the same this weekend coming, and not as hot as it was today !!
Next weekend is...
