A busy and hectic weekend, involving some sunshine, some mist, a rapidly relocated race, the instant uploading of images, and the grand prix results. You're in the right place to see an find your exciting event photos !
First off was the Brutal race that ended up at Newlands Corner - a swift relocation due to the MOD requirements (because the races all usually take place on MOD practise land) made for a different but equally difficult and brutal 10k of experience. Very well done to everyone involved in making this happen - it's not something we have seen in over a decade of races and the Brutal team and volunteers did a sterling job.

Dave explains which way to go at Newlands Corner |
Next morning was an early start for Chichester Half, The Herts 10k and the Warrior Run, which despite it being only about two miles from our offices, was still an early start to recce the course, and get set up for the free pic2go images direct to peoples facebook pages.

There has been lots of lovely feedback about the speed of the pic2go system - but one of the nicest comments we saw on facebook itself was this one From OJ "
I think Warrior Run and Sussex Sport Photography have taken race photos
to a new level today! By logging your race number and linking to
Facebook race photos are automatically uploaded to your Facebook page.
They've used the QR system to identify you. And the cost? Free!! Well
done both parties!!" which got over 165 likes and 20 follow-on positive comments. Thank you very much OJ !
If you are wondering - yes it does rely on the barcodes for the instant upload to your facebook accounts via the pic2go system, and yes they do get muddy and can come off (although many stay on!) and we will be manually tagging up the remaining images and putting them onto our normal image gallery (listed below) for you to see soon - this does take time, so please be patient - we will facebook and tweet as soon as it is live.
Just for a bit of fun - here are the stats from the Pic2go platform:
Images catalogued by Pic2Go to post to facebook: over 27,000
Competitors posting to facebook: over 900
Image impressions on facebook: over 1.3
Million
Image likes: over 23,400
Image comments: over 3,400
If anyone has better facebook album open-graph stats from sharing their event - I'd like to know !!
Interested in Advertising ? - if there are any brands or companies out there who would like to sponsor the pic2go service at a race and use it as an advertising channel (using the overlays on the images) to reach the runners and friends of runners - then please get in touch !! not limited to big brands or small !

James Baker extended his course record this year at the Chichester Half |
Meanwhile in Chichester, the half marathon was won by James Baker taking his course record to 1:11:55. James has been a long time stalwart across the Sussex area and is based near Chichester, so for him this is his nearest half marathon run on his training area. It was perfect conditions on the day with a bit of mist on the South Downs. A small shame that the route across the top of the hill now doesn't allow us a view of the Goodwood Racecourse, but it is pretty spectacular all the same !
The longest journey for some of the team on Sunday was to the Herts 10k in Harpenden. A fantastic charity 10k race around the tracks and countryside raising funds for the Rennie Grove Hospice with over 1600 finishers this year in some of the best conditions we have ever had !
|
The big start at the Herts 10k 2015 |
With four of the team at the event, it was a good drive around the M25 and M1 to the race, rounded off by us not discussing the F1 race on the way home because one of us didn't want to know the result. Unfortunately for him, the game was up when the large screens at Cobham Services put Lewis Hamilton podium interview on the screens just as we walked past them... much discussion ensued...
Galleries
Here's a list of the recent galleries from all the races from this weekend - I've put the logos in for a few of them because that does make it easier to spot things - which is better from a user perspective - but it does take ages to get them from the websites and add them all the time and time is err, time.
Here's a small handful of pics from the races -
