The joy of getting back on it. The running thing I mean.
Well, I hope you all enjoyed the first few days of Summer ! If you have found it, let me know. As I battled into a cold northerly wind between showers this morning I thought it felt a lot more like early April at 12degC not June. Having said that my running was more appropriate for April (slow and undertrained), so nothing new. Phil Young was last weeks distance leader in the SSP group with almost 70miles, which frankly I find ridiculous, but well done all the same, and I hope the hip TFL injury feels better soon.
I'm using my fitbit ChargeHR linked to my Fitbit phone app to map most of my runs, and then those go automatically to strava, however I'll be honest, the HR wrist reading is not as reliable as the chest strap on my old garmin forerunner 305 (although this is the current equivalent and uses wrist measurement with lots of lights). That also auto-uploads to strava via garmin connect when I put it on charge on my computer which is easy. I just have to make sure I don't do both, which has been done...
In other news, my new running shorts have a pocket in the middle of the back, where I put my phone - and it is significantly more comfortable than any arm band or back pocket on my running top. Sam at the Jog Shop saw me good for those, definitely one of those places you need to visit to get what fits you best.

Exciting New event for the calendar
We are going to be working with the lovely Pic2Go technology at the Shrewsbury Half Marathon on the 19th of June. So that means - live photos going directly to competitors facebook timelines during the race. If that's not an exciting way to share your running achievements then I don't know what is!
We have also been asked to cover the Hampshire Hoppit - a new race which is very similar to the famous Three Forts in terms of terrain and elevation - its just that it is on the North Downs. If you like your trail half and full marathons - check this out http://bit.ly/hampshirehoppit - and there are only 12 places left at the time of writing...

Nuala is now on her marathon 99, and raising money like a good'un - if you're the supportive type - read more about it here - http://bit.ly/nuala-justgiving - I think the Worthing Air Cadets are a worthy cause to be aiming for 100 marathons, especially as they were burgled. Help make them a bit happier, it will give you a warm fuzzy feeling.

| I would do more shots head-on like this but I get stepped on, in the way, and wet, and I can't do it from the other end as it's only a foot wide. Shame really. At least you can see why we like hand numbering ! |

Triathlon is one of those sports that until all the facts are gathered together once everyone has finished you can only then see what has gone on and where the gains were made. If you're a bit of a geek and like pouring over spreadsheets that's great - you just need to find the time !
