In other news, the Leeds Castle Triathlon has been finished because of a local new 20mph speed limit on the cycling route. One of the most popular, most scenic and successful triathlon events we have ever had the pleasure of covering. Personally my understanding was that speed limits apply to motor vehicles only, unless there's an additional bylaw, but there we go. They have replaced it with a festival of sport, which is mostly running and a junior aquathlon - it will be interesting to see if that turns out as succesfully as the triathlons did. Difficult to run in the moat.

We are also starting to take bets on the cancellation of the london marathon due to the Coronavirus. Given that the 38,000 runner Paris Half Marathon was cancelled on sunday, and the Tokyo marathon was restricted to Elite athletes only with spectators told to stay away, it will be interesting to see the gradual locking down of locations and events, especially those with international travel and visitors involved.
If China can lock down a city larger than London by effectively barricading their equivalent of the M25 - it will be interesting to see weather or not we are closing in on the Mad Max apocalypse scenario any time soon. Of course we have seen the another view of how this will play out with Will Smith in "I am Legend". Thank fully spring is sprunging - and that will help slow the progress of the virus. Fingers crossed, and remember to wash your hands. Properly.

In the meantime - here's some photos of what people used to do before mass meetings in public places were banned. Parkrun you say ? err... Football will go ahead, but without fans ? lets see what a glorious leaders say after they have ignored even more expertsm because it always works out well when they do that.

Brutal Bordon. Muddy, wet, cold. Joyous.

proper steeple chase conditions at the first water jump

Angry ? karate kick your way past the trees

helping hands

What memo ?

still clean

trust me - hold my hand

Dad at work

something nibbled my foot. *not a foot.

sure there's supposed to be other people about. #scaredthemaway

SAS special training

mid run mud yoga

don't spread diseases, keep your hands clean of viruses, use your sleeve etc etc

all good here

nope, missed the Spa day memo

Roman Spa day bathing

top running for a clean finish

super speedy run in

always bow to the flag

when your friends don't know you're behind them

wash your hands thoroughly, especially after public gatherings to avoid virus transmission

Leap year Feb 29th - and yes, he said yes !!

The Steyning Stinger Half and Full marathon.
Muddy, sunshine, a passing shower, "better than usual"

Do it with friends, it's less painful

easy running up that first hill

Double thumbs means all is good

Bannana shooter

Finger shooter

Just look at the blue sky !

Double thumbs for a blue sky

jumping for joy for the blue sky

it's always nice running in the sun

with his arms stuck his friend helped with the navigation by pointing the way

always happy to help when someone asks for directions

don't let go, he'll float off !

Up on the top, and the weather was glorious

The hill top is roughly this big

tricky in the sun - but this shows exactly the correct way to wear a number on your running shorts. Turn it 90deg vertically on the front and we can read *all the numbers* - which makes it easier for you too !!

no surrender

across the last of the fields - surrendering began again

Space cat with pepperoni pizza. beats two howling wolves at the moon.

new one - BTNG = Black Toe Nail Gang

That Clif flag got stuck into his back quite badly

The shock of the finishline

yes, it's a local nationally famous comedian finishing a half marathon. Good work !

Will always be the youngest it's possible to be on race day - by turning 18 on the day! Great achievement !
so on that note, wash your hands.

until next time, by which point I'll be older and wiser and over the 50 hill, and I'm not looking forwards to the downhill from there. so hey ho.

Enjoy your running and training whilst you can, and keep safe as always.

English National XC Champs and Hampton Court Half 2020

So who enjoyed the mud and fun at Nottingham for the 2020 English National XC Champs ?

Thankfully almost rain free - we provided the free images sponsored by Saucony using pic2go tech to get them out live during the day. The high resolution sales gallery is now live if you have a particular favourite or a high quality print - follow the links below ! (also there might be a few that were not catalogued on the day due to the mud - so check them out just in case there are some extra ones there for you!)

Next weekend is the Muddiest Brutal at Bordon, and then the Steyning Stinger - which with this years cold and wet weather is going to be a particularly stingy one - especially for the marshals, timekeepers and er, us photographers....

Vapourflies make you look serious. Although I'm no follower of fashion - is the top inside out ?

Necessary, because you blocked us getting a good photo for him...

Gary Barlow runs to keep fit for his performances (*not).

If we can't see the runners, then they can't see the finish. Oh and their finish picture is a bit crap.

So that's the weekly roundup, and now to add a serious note.

Lisa Hale - a runner from the Fleet and Crookham club, along the M3/A3 corridor has gone missing since February 14th around midnight on a quick visit to the Petrol Station.
Here's the latest police notice -
https://www.hampshire.police.uk/news/hampshire/news/missing/2020/february/missing-lisa-hale---residents-asked-to-check-outbuildings/
We have seen Lisa at many events, and she often volunteers to help at other events that we work at - it was particularly poingniant for us to see that she uses one of our photos on her Strava profile.
Fingers crossed - she will turn up soon, but it's now been 14 days, which is too long.
If you or your friends are in the area, please share the police information and request to check outbuildings and keep an eye out on your runs if you do run in the area - for anything vaguely suspicious.
Thank you.
Lisa Hale in 2016 at the Arundel Castle 10k

and until next time, Stay safe out there.
